Episode 14 - Execution 3/09/03 Written by: Lawrence Andries Directed by: Jon Avnet On the eve of his execution, a convicted murderer gives a last-minute ultimatum to D.D.A. McNorris -- to save his life or risk the death of a kidnapped L.A.P.D. officer. When the Governor refuses to grant a stay of execution, detectives Stevens and Smith -- infuriated by the delivery of the captive officer’s mutilated finger -- lead the search, while McNorris pleads with the condemned killer for the officer’s life .
